Good Evening Taft Families,
This is Principal Garcia-Rubio calling with our Sunday update. We hope everyone had a restful weekend.
Instructional Model Update
We are pleased to share that we have 220 students reporting on-site for in-person learning. At this time, we are keeping a very brief wait-list for families who would like to change their instructional model from online to hybrid. We are trying to make these changes as soon as possible. However, we must confirm that our classrooms have the physical capacity for the appropriate social distancing. For more information, please contact our office at 858-935-2650.
In addition, we would like to thank our students for doing a great job again this week following all of our health and safety guidelines.
Registered students who are reporting to Taft for hybrid learning should bring:
1. A completed Daily Symptom Check Form (if possible)
Click here for a PDF of the Daily Symptom Checker
2. Backpacks and learning materials
3. A refillable water bottle
4. A small snack (if needed)
5. Their charged Chromebook or device
Friday Schedule
As a reminder, Fridays will be an online check-in from 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. This week, check-in will be period 6. Students will have asynchronous or independent work to complete.
ONLINE ONLY STUDENTS
For our students who are remaining online only, we ask that they continue to log in to their teachers' respective platforms.
HONOR ROLL CRITERIA AND CELEBRATION
TERM 3 HONOR ROLL CRITERIA
To qualify for the Term 3 Honor Roll, a student must have a 3.33-grade point average or above, with no D’s or F’s and no N’s or U’s. Our counselor, Mrs. Sanchez, has contacted eligible students by email.
We will have a drive-through Honor Roll Certificate pick up on Saturday, May 1, 2021, in our Taft Parking Lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
Other Announcements:
Because we need all our available staff to check-in students at the front gates on Gramercy Drive, our front office will be closed in the mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Walk-in support is available from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Thank you for your understanding as we open up our school for in-person learning.
PIQE
We are pleased to announce that the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) will begin an online experience for our parents and families this Tuesday, April 27, 2021. PIQE believes in empowering our parents and families to begin planning for a successful college preparation now that our students are in middle school. We encourage all of our parents and families to attend this powerful experience. Due to low attendance, however, the morning session in Spanish has been cancelled.
The Zoom codes are all included in this communication.
